One of my other hobbies
« on: March 25, 2019, 07:27:48 am »
Gentlemen,
I know that some of you have seen some of these on one of the other forums but I figured  the new members on this one might like to see some of my other adventures.  I have been gifted in some of my abilities and enjoy sharing them with others.
From a very early age I started drawing and painting. The high school I attended only started art classes in my junior and senior years so I took them. This led the way to art school after graduation. I only attended that school for a little over a year due to financial issues but worked in the commercial art field for awhile before being drafted into the Army during the Viet Nam conflict.
After the military I attempted to return to the art field but too many of the art businesses wanted to start me off at the bottom due to my 2 year absence from the field. It was at this point that my career took a turn and I started the apprenticeship for metal patternmaking. That led me into the model making hobby.
Now a little bit about my art. Even though for many years I worked out of the field of art I never got away from it and always drew and painted. In the lated 90's while perusing the art world on the Internet I came across a lady who worked in colored pencils. I had never worked in this medium and was intrigued by what she did. I purchased one of her books and subsequently the materials she used for her work. Although she was mainly a portrait artist, and I wasn't, I studied her techniques and started working with the pencils.
I have been doing this genre for some time now and have advanced greatly. Although still not up to the level of some of the wonderful artists in this field I enjoy it and really enjoy sharing it with others.
So without further ado I will present some of my artwork, now and in the future. These first posting will be of my favorite subjects, mechanics, namely automobiles. Along with colored pencil there are some airbrush and water color presentations.

Wow, those are beautiful...I can imagine the owner of any of those cars would want their own "portrait"...very nicely done.

You definitely have a special gift - your artwork is wonderful! My favorite is the Whizzer - reminds me of my first "motorcycle" wreck! :)

Wow amazing!  I am amazed how you can draw reflective surfaces.

If I can be so bold: Any steam related pictures? I think it would be so cool to see one our collectible steam engines/TEs/SRs in a full size setting.
