A late Christmas engine ordered from KMV
« on: April 02, 2021, 04:36:07 pm »
I decided to call this a Christmas gift so I would have an excuse to buy it 😂

The engine was discussed with Andreas before Christmas, but with Covid and Christmas delays, we decided it would be better to wait until January... The engine was shipped early January and my last shipping update was January 21st. February went by, nothing... March went by, still nothing... Andreas was concerned and helped me with contacting DHL, but I was already expecting a minimum of 3 months, so I wasn’t too concerned, just more annoyed by the slow shipping and lack of update from DHL. Fast forward to yesterday, April 1st and it arrived in MN. Not having any updates from Germany to MN, I thought it was an April fools joke  :D  :D

Anyway, very happy with this engine and love that Andreas is open to custom orders. His prices are very fair and his work is top notch. Check out his site and if you don’t have a KMV on the shelf, you better fix that  ;)

Now for the pictures  :)

(I probably should have asked him to leave out the fuel tablets and oil as that can also cause delays in customs...)

A great looking engine Nick.

Andreas’ builds are top notch.

It will be an excellent runner and is a great engine to drive accessories.

Cheers,
Charlie

Thanks Charlie, still have a package to pick up from you at my mom’s that arrived while we were on our first mini road trip in our new hot rod  :D

I picked up some Metallbaukasten, so wanted the base to match. I knew he had done a blued base for Mirko, but he said he hadn’t done it since 2012 and was worried about the finish turning out... I think it turned out great!!  :)

Whenever I have a new engine built, I always ask for a few build pictures as it’s nice to keep their history. These were sent to me from Andreas

Very nice looking engine. If he does semi custom jobs, I'll have to get a hold of him, have an idea.

Don’t forget to ask him for a gel fuel tray to go with the Esbit tray if you order an engine.  ;)

I really like the steamvalve on this engine, way better looking than the options available for the other engines.

A fine little addition Nick, Congratulations!

I really need to upgrade the valve on my earlier KMV engine...

Andreas does make quality engines, i was tempted to get one of these when they first came out.  ;D

Really enjoyed the build photos of it too Nick! 8)
