Doll Modell No. 308/2 - Small but nice
« on: March 19, 2021, 01:51:18 pm »
Dear steam community,

It's the weekend and time to introduce another of my steam engines. The machine is not particularly big, in fact very small for its time (approx. 1936 - 1939).

Doll 308/2 - Horizontal steam engine, flywheel and Cylinder on the boiler.

The boiler is only 93 mm long and has a diameter of 38 mm. The flywheel has a diameter of 50 mm and the cylinder is 8 mm. The base plate measures 105 x 160 mm.

When I got the little machine, the chimney and burner were missing. I have now replaced both with original parts. I repainted the burner house with heat-resistant black paint. The rust would be too much for me. Everything else was cleaned and polished.

That's a little cutie alright. Not sure how bad it was at first except for what you mentioned but now,
that's nice. Clean and simple.

Thank you Tommy,

Unfortunately, I failed to take pictures of the condition of the machine when I received it. Except for the rusted burner house and the missing parts, there was only some resinous oil and dust.
Cheers

Sweet!
Nice looker!
If you had a collection of tiny engines,
this would be a natural addition.

Thank you Wayne,

I already have one or the other machine there. Fits in there quite well.

The chimney is an ebay purchase. For the burner house, I would have used stovepipe paint instead of brake caliper paint. It doesn't shine that much. :-[

A very solid little steamer , should last for a long time (already has I guess) nice work on the firebox.
