Fleischmann 105
« on: March 07, 2021, 12:43:09 pm »
Canīt recall whether or not iīve shared this in here, but here it goes anyway  8)

Am not a Fleischmann collector per se, but a year ago when this came up for sale, i felt i could find a spot for it on a shelf given its tiny footprint.
It is not in perfect condition by far, and does miss the burner, but i felt the rarity of the 105 vs its bigger 105/1 sibling, defends the fact that i had to spend a whopping 50 bucks on it.
Havenīt really paid it much attention after the unboxing a year ago, however today i had some spare time on my hands, so grabbed a cottonrag and some Autosol...and it didnīt turn out all bad once it was properly cleaned.

As Arrived:

Cleaned up nice  8)

Those are smaller than I thought, might have to find one and display it on a 135/2 base between the boiler and engine  :D

Can anyone tell me the difference in size between the 105 and the 105/1? I have what I think is a Fleischman vertical, but I don't know much about it.

The obvious difference is that the 105 doesnīt have a whistle (or a hole for it in the boiler), whereas the 105/1 has.

Other less obvious difference would be the size, as the 105 is quite a bit smaller, standing 2 inches lover than its sibling, on a slightly smaller base, with a 48mmx65mm boiler, compared to one measuring 52mmx81mm on the 105/1.

If in doubt regarding Fleischmann in the future Bob, i canīt recommend Thomas Venterīs Fleischmann site highly enough.

It is in German, but shows all modelnumbers in the menu at the top, so relatively easy to navigate none the less.

What an improvement in appearance Jan ,you took a lump of coal & made a diamond from it. Well done.

Thanks  :)

Initially had planned to repaint base, firebox, and chimney, but the Fleischmann decal being reasonably well preserved (despite of what the picture shows), made me store that idea for later.

Thanks, Jan.

Looks like mine is the larger 105/1, as found. No burner, though.

I think we all have a Fleischmann 105 or variant somewhere.
Mine came with box but idiot seller included a bottle if oil which leaked into paper work .
Engine biggest issue is dent in boiler

Dennis, use a bolt instead of a safety valve... might take care of the dent  ;)  :D
