Auld roller
« on: March 25, 2019, 01:08:05 pm »
This is my David Auld roller
It is an early model with a copper boiler. I did a restoration about 5 years ago. It has sat as a shelf queen until
recently when I broke down and fired it. The result was a little discoloration to the paint
On the sides.

Thanks.
I got this off Ebay several years ago and it was badly damaged during transport. the boiler was badly dented and the chimney was
bent backward. I was able to return the boiler to the correct shape by filling it with water and giving it a shot of compressed air. It worked!
i'm pleased with my repairs and restoration. this little roller is one of my favorites.

Nice one Paul!

And what an interesting way to get a dent out of a boiler.

Thanks for the tip.

Please note that this is a silver-soldered copper boiler! I wouldn't try this with all boilers.

Maybe unusual over there but a bit more common down under

Two Rollers and 3 Traction engines in there somewhere

I agree. Common "down under" but you don't see the offered on U.S. Ebay that often.  That's why I jumped on this
ONE and also my Cranko Mogul loco. There are a lot of Australian and New Zealand steam offerings that I'd like
To add to my collection, but you just don't see them here. Pity, as I think the Cranko,Auld, Renown engines are pretty cool.

Paul, nice little runner there.  David Auld examples ARE a rare beast on the US market, but you snagged a good one that even runs well!
