Age of Jensen #15 Cast Iron?
« on: March 20, 2020, 03:20:37 pm »
Hey All, I bought this nice cast iron Jensen #15 on eBay last week and was hoping I could get some help approximating the date of manufacture.
Assuming it is sometime between 1952 and 1995? Are there any clues to narrow that down? Base color is pale aqua, wire insulation seems like hard rubber, not smooth plastic.
Thanks,

Having a hard time evaluating the exact colour on the phone here, am certain someone with a better visual will step in shortly.

Anyway, the 3 piece magnet cast iron 15 was introduced in 1952, but during the 50īs they were painted dark blue.
The cast iron 15 was decommisioned, and replaced by the stamped aluminum type we have today, in the very late 70īs.
The above put together, makes your generator a 1960-1979 model, where a proper colour-ID should make it possible to narrow it down even further.
Cheers

Yes, early 1960's through 1979.

1980 and forward all 15's have stamped aluminum bases.
