Allman Inverted Hit and Miss Engine
« on: June 22, 2022, 03:47:15 pm »
This fine specimen is the second of the two engines I purchased at Coolspring on the first day.  It is also a beautiful and excellent-running engine.

Thanks for the video, Doug.

I saw it up close and it is a beauty!
When I finally saw them in person, I began to have regrets selling those two.
The good news is I am mightily pleased they went to you!

Doug, that is one amazing engine, thanks for posting the video! If I'm not mistaken, that is one of the DeBolt kits? They have come up with some of the nicest engine kits over the years.

Here is a Stickney hit-miss engine that I built many years ago from a DeBolt kit:

This engine has a very unconventional carburetor, and I was never able to get it running consistently on gasoline. I did manage to get it running pretty well on propane. I had hundreds of hours in that engine, and stupidly sold it when I moved over twenty years ago. I feel your pain, Gil!

That is a beautifully finished Stickney, Paula!

I can see many hours were put into the finish detailing.

Thank you, Gil! In fact, I spent a total of 477.5 hours on it between 11/1993 and 10/1994. I have additional pictures, but I don't want to hijack Doug's thread. Perhaps I will do a separate thread on it.
