Good experience with my M19
« on: May 19, 2021, 06:54:47 am »
Ordered on end of April, hardly received, it is unpacked, and I put in the base of this vertical Hit & Miss M19 engine 3 1.5V batteries, unleaded petrol 98 with 2% 2-stroke oil.
I open the carburetor needle valve a quarter of a turn and ... the engine starts immediately at a reasonable speed, pure happiness.
After a few minutes of operation, the engine has warmed up slightly and it stops. I close the needle valve a few degrees, its adjustment is VERY sensitive and the engine immediately resumes service.

Thank you Jin  ;)

Congratulations Raphael, on getting a good runner right out of the box!

I know you had a lot of trouble with one of the earlier hit & miss engines that you received, so I'm sure you are well gratified to get one this time that is an easy runner!!!

Nice verticle Fly-ball engine & has a nice exhaust Pop sound !  Does it hold a stable mixture setting after warm-up & what's your Longest running session to date ? Thx for sharing video,...tom.

Bonjour Tom,

Based on this first experience, and Gil who has two of them could also share his opinion, I would say that, as this little engine is not water cooled, its behaviour changes a little bit when the heat is increasing (after 3 or 4 minutes).

The needle valve is VERY sensitive and I was told that if the engine stops after a while, the mixture is too rich, this is why, when it stopped by itself as shown during the video, I closed just a little bit the needle valve and its stsrted again easily.

Furthermore, the gasoline tank is small, I had not filled it to the top so I emptied it quite quickly after the end of the video and the engine was not too hot.

I have also learnt by myself that if an engine does not want to start with my hand, it is always the winner, the cord supplied with does not help, until you find, degree after degree the appopriate setting. And on course, not obvious to go on the good side... The drill tends to drown the spark plug.

For this mini-engine, your summary is very .Jin
