Covid-19 Engine Update
« on: May 19, 2020, 07:35:14 am »
So, as we continue to self-isolate, I have found plenty of time to finish up this half-scale water cooled Domestic vertical hit and miss engine.  This first run is on the test bench (our dining room table), but as soon as the varnish dries on the base and the water tank is on, it will be assembled and ready for sale.   That is, if we ever have another engine show to take it to!

Now, it's on to my next build, which is a set of castings for a Tiny Power 103, two cylinder steam engine.  I bought this kit on Ebay several years ago, and it has been sitting on the shelf ever since.  This is a fairly massive model engine, weighing about thirty pounds, with a cast iron flywheel 7" diameter by 1.5" wide.  All of the castings are bronze and cast iron, except for the aluminum base.  These casting kits have not been available for quite some time, so great care will have to be taken not to mess up any of the castings!

I built its single cylinder brother a couple of years ago, model 104, and it is one of the smoothest-running steam engines I own, so hopefully this one will come out, as well.
