eBay Jensen #20
« on: June 21, 2021, 12:13:56 am »
I haven’t posted lately but I lurk on a regular basis. So fill me in: What makes the $6k Jensen #20 special? I’m guessing the generator plays a part also. Less than 5k was the highest Jensen I remember seeing up until today.
And is the new owner a forum member or are they just keeping it confidential?
Cheers
Tim

I was quite surprised as well!
Assumed it would go high for a 20, but when deducting the value i would have set on a standalone Omega generator, there´s still enough left for a nice Jensen 50.

However, it is extremely rare seing a powerplant with this generator.
So if i was aiming to complete a collection, getting close to it and had the funds available, i would most likely have gone "all in" as well.
No telling if another comes up within the next decade...eventhough this impressive sale does help raising the chance that one or more will.
Cheers

We know for sure it was made in 1951, it had some history being with the last owner for 35 yrs, it was in very good condition. the new owner is an avid Jensen collector & NOT a member here. This went for nearly double what my Jensen friends thought it would go...you just need 2 bidders who "really" want it.

Thanks both of you! I’m not a “collector” of high end stuff. (I don’t think!) But I remember Nick traveling a while back to buy a rare generator worth a lot. I had a hunch it might be rare generator on original plant.
So I learn. I haven’t run anything since winter but I have a red tag 65 and a red tag 75 coming from yesterday’s auctions. That’s probably a total of 25 engines but I’m not a collector!(?)

One of these days Ill be able to flex and scorw a Jensen for $6543.21.  i put in a bid at 300 and it blew up to over 1000 on day 1.  i was mind blown seeing its final sale.  funny number too.  $6543.21 [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Love steam engines, especially older German made.  Love the more clockwork style.  Addicted to this stuff!
