Tiny M17 horizontal that DOES hit and miss!
« on: December 18, 2022, 10:26:27 am »
Maybe this is old news as i have been away from my engines for several months, but some time ago I wished for an M17 "hit and miss" and the general thoughts by some was "to small" and was only availible as throttle control....but i found this video and it seems Jin has been busy!

Without admitting addiction <g>, I currently have two of the three engines in the 17 series--the B and h&m.  Jin’s first 17 was designed with a simple needle-valve carburetor, pushrod-controlled exhaust valve and atmospheric intake valve.  Next was the 17B with a throttle-carb and pushrods controlling both the intake and exhaust.  The latest 17 jewel is a hit-and-miss.  As the vid shows, the h&m does nicely hit and miss.  The softer-spring/s mod common to the larger M90 engine should also slow down the 17, if that is a concern.  If you have a lathe, turning shoes for the flywheels should add enough weight to slow it down as well.

The 17’s have been easy starting and very reliable runners.

Thanks for the M17 mini review!

Nice to see the hit and miss 17.

Thanks for posting and well done, Jin!
