Update on boxer engine
« on: February 08, 2022, 09:14:41 pm »
Back in November, I tore down the engine after the oil snafu.  I had company coming, so bagged and stowed the project until a week or two ago.  My Glaucoma-ravaged vision is best in the morning, so I’ve been slowing putting the engine back together.  When I went to mount the gas tank, the fuel line was twisted, and when I tried to pop the line off the nipple with my fingernail, a cold solder joint let go, and the nipple came with the line.

I bagged and stowed again, and ordered silver bearing tin solder and flux, and tonight, eyes not worth a damn, THC and CBD kicking in, I fired the mini pencil torch and put a new outlet on the tank.  Pro tip. Use a long piece of tubing when soldering in a nipple, and cut it off with a Dremel cut off wheel afterward. It’s a lot easier to handle the long piece of brass than a pre cut short nipple.

Done and mounted back on the engine.  Next warm day we get, I’ll oil and fuel and give it a whirl.
