M92 Governor Spring Modification
« on: January 25, 2021, 12:42:55 pm »
I have searched high and low to find the thread that describeshow to strip and modify the governor, can someone give me a hint as to its location.

My thoughts are to remove the standard spring and wind a replacement, so if it all goes wrong I can still go back to factory spec. I do have a digital tacho so I can measure the differences.

Well I found a picture that helped me to understand the process for shortening the spring. I cut 1.5 coils off the spring.....what a difference.

I will get the optical tacho out tomorrow to see what we are down to.

Well the digtal/optical tacho shows a reduction in speed of about 480 RPM  so its down to 1150rpm with a low of 950
