Troubleshooting jin,s 1.5v ignition system
« on: July 12, 2024, 09:48:46 am »
I wonder if anyone has had to troubleshoot jins 1.5v ignition system as used on my oddball engine. Everyone i talk to assumes it uses a hall sensor, but i have never seen a hall sensor that only has 2 wires. I think this ignition system must be using a 2 wire reed switch being closed by the permanent magnet located in the brass timing gear. These 2 systems require different troubleshooting methods. I doubt you could damage a reed switch but could easily damage a hall sensor by  improper testing methods.
My module is producing no spark after only about 10 min total run time. This is unusual as i have had many of his engines with no ignition problems.
I would like to know what part i need before contacting jin to purchase replacement parts. It may be also that the ign system is only available as a complete unit- a shame if it is only the sensor/reed switch.

I have your new ignition module. Jin put it in a package for mr with other parts. I will send it along.

Still.... it would be nice to know more about the 2 wire sensor.
