Office of Steam Forum for Model & Toy Steam Gas & Hot Air Engines

Hi,

I'd read that the best product in America for removing oil and residue from bare metal before priming and painting is 409.  However this information is at least 20 years old and was from an auto body repair site. 

Is there a better option out there that I can purchase here in the States?  Or should I go with 409?
