BIG Bing MONITOR hot air engine

Bing Bros. in Germany made its very large and expensive "Monitor" hot air engine for only a few years from 1902 to around 1906. The catalog description says it was especially suitable for operating store show window displays and could run for 4 hours on a tank of alcohol. We can guess it was named after the world famous ironclad Civil War ship "USS Monitor" designed by John Ericsson. Ericsson also designed what became the world's most successful full-sized hot air pumping engine.

Thanks. I was many years waiting for one, and it was no bargain. Not sure why this photo wasn't posted. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
