On Saturday morning I drove 4 hours to Douglasville, PA to pick up Cabin Fever Auction winnings.

Most significant is what we believe is the very earliest known Jensen #10.

Observations:

I think Tom Sr. may have been cutting his teeth on this one (or batch... he supposedly built 6 at a time in the very beginning).

There are a few features that didn't show up on later models as Tom Sr. worked out his production work to be simplified requiring less time and cost.

1. In very good shape for it's age.

2. Outside bearing pedestal has piece of spring steel pushing gently on the outboard end of the crankshaft.

3. Instead of pressing the armature windings onto the crankshaft he put them around a tube that's held in place with a set screw.

4. Steamchest has no holes or covers on the outside edge facing the lamp.

5. Boiler straps are shimmed.

6. Galvanized sheet metal for firebox.

7. The cloth cord goes in through edge of the wood base and we have not seen another like this.

8. Chromalox immersion heater.

9. No throttle on the steam line.

10. Lamp post has a different flange than all others known.

Someone before me hit the boiler with an abrasive that left scratches. I only gave a it a wipe with a soft cloth and some Really Good Shit which they sell in the Coolspring Power Museum gift store. It's similar to WD-40 however doesn't smell as good and lubes better.

I also got and overpaid for a 1950s Jensen #25 because it had the very early swaged valve stem whistle that belongs on the early #10.

Looks like it would do a good job of that!!!

Do NOT heat your bath water with that.

Besides the steam stuff, that huge electric motor is very interesting!
