I must admit that here lately I have been buying Jensen #35's just for the large SV & wire protector around the sight glass. (when a bargain)
surely I'm not the only one....anyone have a good story (or several) about some little part that you needed that necessitated buying an entire engine ?

I can easily understand that, anymore I have no problem dissecting a common Jensen for parts, I figure somewhere down the line I will use said part for a project. I do look for incomplete engines 1st...(plentiful re-Jensen's) ….before the scrapper in me gets going on a complete running plant.

Though I no longer have any Empires, I bought a number at one time to get complete stacks, whistles and working heaters...often sold the remnants for as much as I paid even though I honestly described item as missing X, Y or Z...could be the buyers were looking for another piece.  I don't fret over breaking up a common engine...it's like organ donating...multiple recipients can be made whole again...so one sacrifice = many brought back to life.

I have bought many Empire and Weeden engines for parts.  And I have amassed a pretty solid cache of replacements for both.  Although, I have sent a number of parts (particularly Empire ones) to others in nee.

I have not bought any Jensen Engines for parts--as most of the parts needed can be bought from Jensen.

I bought a Unis for parts, and a few Empire. It seems every German engine I bid on for parts goes too high for me to justify parting it out or are just in too good a condition to do so.
