Might you have any other photos of the Brass Cover that is on the flip side of piston?  I saw the other photos on your site but they aren't real good to figure out how to repo one.  Might you still have contact with the owner of those photos, to get a updated / up close / higher-res photo?

We assume the two metal blobs on the top of the piston are "catches" for the brass cover.  Which we assume the brass cover is just something "pretty" for the outer face of the piston?  And this engine would still have a governor?


Oh - I have requested my brother to steam up the engine for a short video.  If he does that, I'll upload it to my YouTube and share it.  I haven't been able to find a video of one just like this one.

Lastly, when you say "one of the first engines" = pre-1900?
