The thought of Goring and other National Socialist DAP elite having toy Marlklin trains as a “fun-time hobby” is beyond creepy ... no, make that beyond repugnant.
I had a Marklin item I discovered was from the Third Reich period. It grew to be too disturbing for me to have as part of my collection. I found that it bothered me. Bad vibes. I got rid of the damed thing.

At least Goring and his creepy associates didn't corner the market on fun with great toys.
Walt Disney had a wonderful live steam railroad.

“Cornering the market” is an appropriate term for what Goring and his creepy friends had in mind for the whole world. Toys, people, everything “cornered”.
The idea that he and his creepy friends played with toy trains that had aircraft to simulate bombings, while his Stukas hit French, British, Polish passenger trains is kinda upsetting ... even more so with the thoughts of this guy playing with a toy railroad layout for fun , with evil friends , who were using real cattle cars to ship children to Dachau. Sick , sick , sick psyche those folks had.

I have no idea how Walt Disney has any bearing on Hermann Goring, but I do know that Disneys’ movie about Winnie the Pooh angered another modern day dictator.
Probably best NOT to watch the youtube South Park video titled — Randy in Chinese Prison.
What totalitarians do with great toys can be shocking.

This isn't a political discussion. I mentioned Disney only to steer the thread back to our hobby. That is all. 'Nuff said.

In some of my reading about Walt Disney , the Disney railroad was one of the items that Walt kept exclusive ownership of & was not part of Disney Co. It was reported he charged $1.00 per person 😄 and would play "engineer" from time to time.

He had a railroad on his home property as well, Carolwood if I'm not mistaken, and was a real railroad buff besides just in association with
Disneyland. A couple of his prime cartoon animators were also world class train buffs, with Bert Ward being paramount among them. He also had a full size railroad, with many old classic narrow gauge pieces of equipment, on his home property, fully restored and operational. Many of the railroad books in my collection (yes, I have a collection of those too) have photos by Bert, and he was good a taking them with his artists eye!
