Home Made Model Baker Fan

Doing some Googling after seeing Bruce's Baker fan, I've read that "these were designed by a Mr. A.D. Baker to test steam engines as they left the factory.
A Baker Fan is a simple air-resistance device used run off an engine via a belt and the faster its turned, the harder it is to turn and puts a load on the engine".

Nice that you made it for flat belt or drive bands.

My relative has a full size that I want to belt my little Case up to  :D

Well done Jim, looks great!

Know it´s a relatively big accessory, but it turns very smoothly on those roller bearings, so do test it on a small and fast engine as well, to get a better idea of the load.

An outstanding example of a Baker Fan Jim, very robust & the Brass bars are a just the perfect touch. I think you'll find you go to this often to have something for your steam engines to do. this will be the perfect accessory for your centurion traction engine. I really like your "Bear" decal, sets it off perfectly.

Bruce this is the only way I could think of and come up with to hold the wood in place as the glue set.
I wrapped a piece of wood with cling wrap and then used panel nails to hold everything tight in place.

Jim , I just used Gorrila glue (not advisable for hair) & held it in place for a few minutes.

Never heard of it before Bruce, just Googled it and they have a good range of it in the hardware store in town though so I'll be getting some -
