Hi

Thought I would share my latest Marklin addition.  It is a Marklin 4155/9 made between 1909 and 1915. The /9 means it had a boiler feed pump.  It is large, the base is 6.5 x 12, the boiler 3.5 diameter, and it is 15 ¾ to the stack top.  What is amazing to me is that the only things missing are two of the wood handles on valves, the metal posts are there so new could be easily made (at least by Bob).  If you look at the burner you will see that the cup to extinguish the flame was still with it.  A friend of mine works at antique shop several days and it came in, he sent pictures, and it was mine.  Like many items in my collection, they just drop out of the sky ie blind luck!!

Amazing.  As to the cup its a filler cup i believe as the burner is incomplete.  the cup would be used to measure using the supplied funnel for fuel or water.  the burner is missing the vaporizer cap.  Its one of the old mushroom burners you can see the pilot wick.  Very good condition its winderful and the burner will still work just not as effecient.

The reason I thought the cup was a cover for the flame is twofold.  It does not have a lip for pouring into that small hole in the tank, it would still need a funnel,  like other plants I have. And two if you look at the burner the outline around the wick is exactly the outline of the cup upside down.  I agree with you about the burner.  I have two others with the mushroom vaporizer, maybe that is the outline of vaporizer?  I need to have several vaporizers made. Maybe the cup was just something that attached to it over time.

Great find! Congratulations. The reservoirs under the boiler are interesting. Are they for the feed pump, or steam/condensate exhaust?

The one in the back has the boiler feed pump bypass feeding into it, not sure it the intake for the feed pump could go in there also but it would make sense as no point in wasting water.  Also a convenient way to just add water to the pan as needed.  The front one seems to have no function.  There are some running on yutube, this one specifically, but I cannot tell what's going on with the pump.  Someday it may be operational then see how it all works.  A set of instructions would be a real find.
