New Arrival
« on: January 18, 2021, 02:10:47 pm »
Got today a new engine (Internet Auction) Märklin - Model 4124/14/3395 - the famous
"Hammermaschine" - Year is marked 1908 - some Parts are not 100% correct
and I have to make the right size of an alcohol burner. Most of the black
color from the boiler is missing but it has a very nice Patina. The engine
has an impressive size of 24" length - boiler has 5,5" dia and the power
generator No.3395 is a heavy masterpiece. The self-starting 2-Cyl. engine
has been already started with compressed air. A real steam test the next days
and I will make a small video for sure.I forgot to say: my wallet has a hole in it!

Greetings Arnold ;D

Congratulations on this fine machine. I believe this model with the green speckled base may have had a steel blue finish of the boiler rather than the black painted boiler.

Today I had time to steam my new Steam Factory - we have a shutdown in Switzerland until End of February - so no official work at all! The Plant needed some tuning of all steam and water cocks and caskets - and the feed pump was blocked and calcified. All bearings got fresh oil and the cylinders some hot steam oil. The boiler gets ready in a very short time due to the
many pipes. Enjoy the video with low room light....

That engine runs as good as looks. Great sound, great score. One to be proud of.

Wonderful engine Arnold. I also have one with a pattern base restored by a restoration artist.

Unfortunately, I have not steamed mine yet. Hopefully this spring when I return from the country.

That was lovely to watch Arnold , the ambient lighting was just right for this machine. I found myself wanting to watch more as the video was to short 😊 (guess I'll just watch it again)

What a sound. Sounds like a real motor room. Awesome engine!
