Ooooh , I like everything about that Tommy , the gears diving the water pump, the heavy connecting rod ,the bearing caps & screws. cant wait to see it run. if the exhaust running to the chimney is not original...then they sure did a mighty fine job of it !

These are great engines and smooth runners...
Looking forward to seeing more of it!

The exhaust pipe to the chimney is not original, imho.

Would it have had an exhaust more like this? I agree with Bruce that if it’s been added, it is very neatly done

Thanks everyone, I've been looking on line all night and today, have not seen one with this exhaust.
They also the chimney with the decorative ring towards the bottom, rats. Those carbureted burners
throw a flame, wow, nice colors too.

Best website I know for these lists your model as the 456/1, while I have the next smaller model which is listed as a 456/0, as seen here:

The number cast into the base may not be the actual model number, but perhaps only the casting pattern number.

It came to me with a plastic sight "glass" that was badly deformed, a missing blow-down valve handle, and without the original burner. Other than those issues and some flaking paint, she's a beauty and runs really well. Gas burners give throttle capability that the steam line lacks, so if you don't like your mushroom burner, go to gas.

I would be happy with your exhaust to the chimney, a feature they should have had when new and your’s looks nice enough to be factory done.

Would be neat to see it out in the cold puffing steam through that spark arrestor 

You must have meant "forming ice in the screen of that spark arrestor"?!?!

Haha, well if you’re basement is cold and not heated like mine it would probably work inside too
