Jeanne Brooks runs this Maritime Museum. She is trying to put together a steamboat exhibit to showcase years of research completed by a 92-year-old resident.
Part of this would be displaying a small-scale Marine Steam Engine.
I shared with her Wilesco, Stuart, and other marine steam engines that can be purchased as well as complete steamboats that can be purchased on the open market.
I am not a steamboat guy so I'm passing this request for help on to forum members.
My thoughts were locating a complete-scale ship with a marine steam engine to display. Probably set it in the exhibit and run it on air to show the workings down to turning the prop shaft and propeller. I've seen some pretty neat steamboats. Jeanne has limited resources to purchase or have owners display their boats in the museum.
She can be reached via her personal cell phone at 985-788-8555.
She welcomes any and all help. I am in North Carolina and too far away to offer assistance. Plus my knowledge of Marine Steam Engines is very limited.
Give her a call and see what you might help with. Even if just suggestions and advice.
I've spoken at length to Jeanne please share this information so they can get some help asap. She is wanting to get this exhibit up and running soon.
Jack.
