Krauss Mohr & Co. made this unique toy for Doll & Co. and perhaps others (Bing?) around 1911. While it appears to be a steam engine at first glance, it's actually a vertical hot air engine. The "boiler" is a water tank to cool the upper part of the engine.

That is a truly great little Stirling!
Very interesting that they configured it as a Mock Steam Engine, but it certainly runs great and I do suppose the cooling water in the "boiler" does help make for longer and better runs.
NICE!!!

Thanks. KM soft soldered all their steam and hot air engines, so running one without water leads to catastrophic meltdown.

I soldered one back together for a friend who didn't know the water jacket on this one is filled through the chimney.
