Your latest runner - put up a video! - don't be shy

  Lets shake up this website!  Add a video of the first
steamup of your latest acquisition.  I hope this stimulates
some action on a sleepy Monday afternoon.

  My latest runner is a Weeden 58.  It needed a sightglass
and a hole fixed in the boiler/smokebox attachment point,
along with some new gaskets.  The governor is from a
Weeden 14, not correct, but it works, sort of.  I'm
pleased.  Please note that the original smokestack was
not on the engine for the video.  I was trying it on
two other Weedens, successfully, and I forgot to put
it back on before the video.

Not a new acquisition as such but this is my latest completed project, a Mamod Meccano based loco using the MEC1 unit and running sedately on Hornby O gauge tinplate track.  It is pulling a fairly heavy load of green 'logs' so working quite hard:

  Well done!  Makes me think about getting out my Erector and Marx sets, one of my
small engines, a bunch of O-guage track and then applying equal parts of ingenuity
and elbow grease.

Thanks Wayne, it was just a bit of fun but worked out well enough.
As there's no more new videos on here yet I have included one of my previously completed project which is a vertical boiler incorporating cross tubes in the flue for better efficiency, it is made using a vintage jet engine starter cartridge of some 3 inches diameter, shown here with a Cotswold Heritage Perseus engine and heated with a 1 inch Bix gas burner:

Dave, thanks for posting your setup.

  It looks, runs, and sounds great.  You mention the
boiler is from a jet engine starter cartridge.  I
have a (probably) 75mm cannon ammo cartridge and
thought to myself that it would make a good boiler.
Your boiler proves the concept.  Repurposing is better
than recycling.

Thanks Bruce - I do check in here most days but yes, I really should make more effort to contribute!
Wayne - a bonus of using the cartridge is that the closed end not only doesn't need an end cap making, it is also thick enough (about 1/8 inch) to be drilled and tapped direct for the various fittings without needing separate bushes.  I have two more waiting to be used at some time.

That is definitely a fine old Bing, and a beast of an engine. Reminds me of the Girthy Fleischmann 130.

Especially like the cam actuated valves on your engine!

     Well, I don't have any videos , but here is some pictures of my newest runner. I believe it to be a D6 Wilesco , which I bought with no boiler off of Ebay. I normally don't care for single acting wobblers, but this one is pretty impressive and powerful , and fun to run . Besides, I got it , along with a Jensen power hammer for a whopping $19.00 . What's not to like about that ? One of the things I have always disliked about the little oscillating engines , is the way their connecting rods just slipped onto the crank pin , with no retaining system. If you will note on mine, I have threaded the crank pin for a 4-40 nut and spaced it with washers for a nice fit. I also added a PMR union to connect the steam pipe.

Marklin 4106-6.5 - my first steamup video after the fixes mentioned in my
you tube description and narration.

It's a pretty good runner - I need only a legit oiler cap and burner to finish.

Why did Marklin not put a throttle on this engine?
