Certainly, the labeling can be wrong. I looked up the machines in question in the Schiffmann catalog. In the picture of the Plank 161, at least 1 manhole is visible (even with a magnifying glass).
Interesting is the note for the Schoenner 165
"Current knowledge: with manhole cover = Schoenner, without manhole cover = Falk; however, whether this has been true since 1917 is not certain!"
The Schiffmann catalog is a trustworthy source for me. Since both machines are unfortunately not in my collection and I can therefore not compare them side by side, I do not want to commit myself.

That is quite possibly correct Jurgen, that would explain the mechanism with the hand wheel on the crankshaft near the main bearing.
I don’t have that mechanism on my Schoenner 165/5s in any case.
