Wonderfully strange ... but I really like everything you have done in putting this plant together. As already mentioned, the eclectic sourcing and repurposing of the various parts makes for an even more interesting result!

Almost forgot to mention the drive belts - round belting just didn't look right and I tried thin leather but that was not successful, eventually found polyester ribbon in the household sewing box which works pretty well and with use has become authentically grubby!

Thanks guys, yes Rog this is definitely a keeper - I may arrange to be buried with it! Not any time soon hopefully.
The dynamo is just a simple DC motor in a custom casing, part of a candle holder and a modified brass water pipe fitting if memory serves. The governor uses a candlestick base and various bits, the chains I think came originally from a dead cuckoo clock. The safety valve is an adjustable Mamod type and the cover was made from a Mecanno brass wheel and part of a charity shop vase, the condenser and overflow pot are both charity shop decorative items.
As for the bell, that doubles as the filling funnel, and was originally a bell (charity shop!) before becoming a funnel. So, that's re-recyled, I think...

I made the lamp from assorted stuff, the glass was carefully cut from a burnt out auto bulb and contains 2 x 5volt LEDS, the switch was sourced from EBay, could not get a brass one so I spent a few happy hours polishing off chrome plating, as one does. The salad oil dispenser (I think) is functional and contains oil for the oiler pots, which again and perhaps unsurprisingly was charity shop finds.
Anyway, that I think is most of it covered, but if anyone wants to know more please just say!

Dave, that is a beautiful old engine you have enhanced with boiler, burner and governor.... really a sweet sound once it got running. Hope you keep it, would be a nice centerpiece to any collection.

Not huge by any means but certainly the biggest and heaviest in my collection. Some of you will recognise it from the other Forum, for those who haven't seen it before it is one of those elaborate Polish built brass engines which come up on EBay from time to time, I made the boiler and firebox from scratch plus the dummy governor. I have recently added a gas burner which has really transformed the performance and here it is in steam today from a cold start - hope you enjoy it:
