Nice job on that sounder Lenn :)
-
Thanks Charlie. :)

Very cool Lenn.
I am really enjoying the thread.
Thanks,
Charlie

Thanks buddy, a sounder would be attached on the two far side screws.
-
Perfect!🤠
-
Another addition to the collection a relay, they were used if it was a long line to the next station to boost the signal on the other end.

Thanks Bruce, we re modeled it this morn.

Very nice Lenn , you guys were cracking me up with that Morse code business 😉
-
Today we made a wireless telegraph, they would connect a antenna to these and it would transmit the spark to another antenna .
This is what the Titanic had on it which didn`t help them much as the telegraph with the strongest signal would be the one that`s picked up.

I used a model T buzz coil.

Thanks Daniel and Jan, the notch was already in the pole so had to add something. :)
-
Cool stuff as always Lenn !!!
I honestly didnīt notice the beaver, as iīve been at work pretty much 24/7 in the last couple of weeks, and the (relatively) small screen on my phone makes quite a few details elude my perception.
I love it, itīs a fun little detail (https://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji482.png)
-
Noticed ... sure, but unusual things in the background of your photos and videos are more the norm than the exception Lenn, and who could possibly comment on all the things we see in the background around your place when we are continually amazed by whatever new creation you are sharing with us in the foreground!
How long do you figure before he drops that telegraph pole and you have to call a lineman in for repairs?
-
No one noticed the beaver. :o
-
So you can now send and receive, then respond and receive at different "stations" on opposite ends of that board ... I like it!!!
That was the plan but i need another key with the lock out for it to work like that.

Picked up a main line sounder and put it in the resonator.

Mounted two sounder on this board to look like they would be wired into the main line

Thanks Daniel, the tag on the sounder says, W.V Tel. Co.
The batt eliminator says made by the Schauer machine Co.
Cincinnati Ohio.
-
Nice set-up for sure .... I've never seen a Battery Eliminator either, but assume it must be some form of capacitor.
Who manufactured that sounder .... Wunel or something like that?
Are there any T&P markings on either the sounder or the key?
You ought to have some good fun with that one and your other set-up, you could string wires out to the shed and have a dinner call communicator! ;c)
-
Thanks Gil :)
Got the telly that came from RR depot in Big Springs TX, very cool indeed.

People don't know it but they are still in use.
I love thatr retro tech that never breaks down like electronics do.

Thanks Charlie.
This is a replica resonator box we made for the key and sounder that`s coming in a few days, they would wedge a tobacco can behind the sounder so it would make a different sound so the rr guy could tell which sounder was getting a message.

here`s a video showing one in use at 1:28

Looks great Lenn!

It even has a battery eliminator on it.
Also have a sounder and key coming.

Thanks Charlie and Larry, they do date back pretty early they even made one with a key board later. :)
-
I did have a good day Lenn and if I could remember my Morse code I would have known what you sent. Anyway I really like your paper printer, very ingenious and works well - that would be a very helpful device to have in a lot of instances in the old days. As usual I'm impressed with what you come up with - well done!
-
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Love it Lenn.
I am amazed with your ingenuity and creativity.
Thanks for the pictures and videos. 🤠
-
Figured it out, dang operator couldn`t run over and turn the paper on when a message came in, wired it to the solenoid and there`s enough delay in the pen lifting and lowering to make the spaces between the letters.
Works good and when i get the new key installed it will be a dandy. :)

Cool Beans again Pard!!!
-
Yep the Gov won`t be listening in on this line. :)
-
Thatīs cool Lenn !!!
Now you just need some wiring done, and you can ditch the phone ;)
-
We just finished the Telegraph reader needs some fine tuning and stain but works pretty good.
