I'm paying for it Daniel, I go to the skin specialist now every 4 months just to keep on top of any surprises happening.
When I was a kid surfing, sun protection wasn't a thing. Actually the opposite, we used to cover ourselves in Hawaiian Tropic oil to cook ourselves even redder :(
Then if I add all the years fishing, on a tractor, hunting, etc etc
But I think if I had it over to do again.....I'd do it all the same :)

At 6000 ft the UV here is pretty intense. So much so that it seems to feel hotter here out in the sun on a bright sunny day, than it does 2000 ft lower down in the valley, even though the thermometer reads almost 10°f cooler up here than it does in the valley. I do of course wear long sleeve shirts and full brimmed hats if I'm going to be out in the sun much, wherever I am around here. This is the high desert afterall!
But I rarely get sunburn of any kind, as I'm quite accustomed to high altitude what with working 15 years at 12,500 ft and all my backpacking and climbing to even greater heights. Also all my high lake canoeing which is a real solar challenge also, what with water reflection added into the mix.
Still, with all the precautions I've generally taken, skin cancers will be no surprise if/when they start showing up. It's just the kind of life I've chosen to live!

Thanks Bruce.

That's really pretty Jim, you are fortunate.

Jeez just reading those temps.......I'm already dreading summer :(
What's the UV like at your place Daniel? Do you get sunburned quickly?
That's the thing that's even worse than the heat here, the sun is so fierce the UV index in summer is always above extreme.

It was cold last night Daniel, about 9°c (48.2°f)..... or at least what we think is cold :)
It was 2°c the other morning and that's really cold for us. Twenty five miles to the West of the coast where the mountains (or what we Aussies call mountains) are, its getting down to -10°c
Sounds delicious to me ... we're currently topping 100°f in the daytime and only getting down into the 50°'s at night, I would truly love some cool weather right about now.

Taken last night just on dusk looking out to the East at Green Island and the sun setting in the West as it went down behind the mountains lit up the sky and clouds wonderfully.
