Jim, thanks again for all of your help. I actually had some off cuts of wood to hand which i used for the engine base:

I'll do another thread with some better photos later, the base is going to be a bit more complex due to the reversing mechanism, the base shown in the photo is just temporary.

That is great thanks Jim!

Jim sorry to be a pain but what are the dimensions of the smaller plinth?, i've got the depth from your other photo.
One thing i've realised i might have to do is to cut a recess out to accommodate the reversing mechanism on my base as i don't know what the clearance will be until i get it.
Your bases look like silky oak?
Hi Philip the smaller plinth is silky oak, the larger plinth is a tropical hardwood from up north.
The dimensions of the small plinth are -
60mm wide
15mm high (this is high enough to for the flywheel to clear the bottom plinth)
105mm long

Jim, very much appreciated thank you!
I just received notification from MSM today that my Pevensey has been shipped out!
Anyway i'm sure they might be others who would benefit from this too. ;)

Now why would Philip need these measurements?? ;)

Here you go Philip, sorry for the delay. I put them up here as it was easier.
Any questions, just sing out. You can see how there is a smaller plinth that the engine(s) are on and then that's mounted to the larger plinth.
