So does anyone have a picture of these tiny engines?

I can't say that I have a "themed" collection, but there are a few small ones in there, like this Hielscher HO live steam Grasshopper locomotive.

Hi Stuart great thread. I only collect the one small-engine from British made engines. For me it keeps things in perspective.

Does anybody else have a THEMED collection?

Yep! Anything and everything I can sneak in  ;)

Another great feature of the miniatures is how well they fill in the open/wasted space on some of the larger baseplates

Great idea.  I think my whole steam collection is now about half "little engines" and half of those are of the Stirling type.  I am fascinated by miniaturization.  Though I have tried to keep my engine collection under 30 total, a few of these little buggers have crept in of late.  Just got the same tiny Stirling Gil showcased a few weeks ago.  It is indeed tiny, but goes like the wind.

As you have already realized...tiny/small fits a whole lot more spaces than bigger stuff.  Look forward to seeing more of your buys.

Interesting Stuart, I know that Gil's wife Mrs Redryder has a very nice miniature collection.

Interesting and understandable theme you have chosen here. I have noticed that many of my larger engines don't get displayed because I can fit half a dozen smaller engines to display in the same shelf space.

Best of luck with your new direction, and please do keep us apprised of acquisitions as you go along.

I've always had a soft spot for miniature engines but i've never restricted myself to one manufacturer or type of engine, since there are so many good makers out there both past and present.

In the beginning i started out with toy steam but then moved over to model steam due in part to me working with the full size stuff.  ;D

I've never thought about my collection being "themed ",
But it predominantly  consists of Jensen MFG. Steam engines, mostly out of convenience and availability of parts (not So Much from the manufacturer anymore)

Downsizing house so packing up a large quantity of models did not appeal. So found them all a new home and now starting again from scratch

The theme of the new collection will be the smallest model made by any company and just a single item per company. Ideally in original unrestored condition.

Anybody else have just a one of each company collection?

First item just arrived - a lovely little Latimer L4 just 5 inch by 4 inch.
