The old Homelite 22D is back up and running and stayed running for an hour and stopped only when I turned it off!
The coil is supplied as a new replacement for a 1940's chainsaws with the Mercury or Kiekhaefer engines with a Bendix Scintilla magneto.
The same coil is also sold for a lot more money by antique aircraft parts suppliers.

I am missing the cage that protects the lamp bulb.
Miraculously, this bulb has survived years surrounded by picks, axes, rakes, shovels, forks, saws, and other yard tools stored around and over it.

Might be fun to run a Jensen with it.
It has enough juice to run all but the #50/51.

that is a oldie, they just don't make them like that anymore, what a fine piece of machinery for a bargain price, & that you were able to get it running with just the right know-how.

I had one very similar to this a few years back. Paid more for it ($35.00) but it was a great runner. Ultimately gave it to an 85-year-old man who wanted backup power for his sump pump.

I'm especially taken with the spring mounting feet, a feature that you just don't see much anymore ... ;c)

I got this at the Orange Engine Show 6 or 8 years ago.
My recollection is something like when I found it with a $50 tag on it, I offered $25 and wound up with it.
When I got it home, I put in a little gas/oil 2 cycle mix and it would not start. I dribbled a little into the air intake and pulled again. This time it fired up and the lamp bulb lit up. This lasted all of 5 seconds until the little fuel in the carburetor was gone.
Fast forward...... I had recently been thinking I should drag it back out and make it run. First thing I removed the carburetor to get at the fuel pick-up. Top on the list of usual suspects is the check ball which is often found stuck after years of sitting. I found it stuck, popped it loose with a dental pick, cleaned it and put it back on the engine. 1 pull on the primer pump and.... this time it fired right up and kept running!
Then I cleaned a lot of the grunge off it, fired it one more time, took a couple pictures and put it away.
