Bonjour,
Here is a slow machine... in a paddleboat :

-
Very nice Dennis, looks like somewhere in the 32-34 RPM area 8)
-
That is a nice Stuart Beam engine & something to be proud of. Stuart's take ages to break in properly.
I am pleased with how it turned out considering what i started with

...Now THAT is IMPRESSIVE!!...
Certainly is, well done Bruce !!!
-
Great thread.
-
I didn't count, but see you wrote 27 rpm's on youtube. Now THAT is IMPRESSIVE!!
AWESOME Bruce!! 8) 8)

my slowest with the J42R...

I may have to break out the "green machine" & see what it'll do...
-
Impressive to see one of these going that slow, thanks for sharing.
...but, it really needs oil Nick, my 85´s is much faster at 15 psi ;)
HAHA ;D yes, I had it pegged. I tried running on low flame with throttle wide open as that's how I do my low speed runs with electric Jensens, but I was stuck around 100 rpm's. I'm thinking it needs a run with a heavy cast 35 flywheel...

Not my slowest run, but probably one of the slowest 85's out there ;)
73 RPM's

Here are a couple of my engines on slow tickover under steam:

Not as slow as your #50 though Nick, i bet your MSM Pevensey runs slow. ;)
-
I should have filmed it for at least a minute, but I know it did go for 2 or 3 minutes before the condensate in the exhaust stalled it. After clearing that out it ran about the same speed for another couple of minutes.
I will disqualify my above run as it's an old video, so let's see some new slow runs ;) I'll try to get one in tonight...
-
That is way slow and going to be tough to beat! Likely it will take a big machine to be able to have the mass and inertia to manage it!
I clocked the last ten revolutions at ~ 26.08 RPMs.
Nicely done Nick!!!
-
Love watching the action of the mechanism at that speed. Beautiful engine Nick. Maybe some day I’ll get one.
-
Very impressive Nick!
-
I can make mine stand still....😋
-
With it slow, one can see the in stroke being a little less power than the out stroke. Slightly less volume due to piston rod.
It's like that on full size engines too. A few weeks ago, I observed a 90hp Minneapolis TE doing that.
-
Nick, that will be tough for anyone to beat...wow!

oh my, that is nice and sloooow Nick (man ,I love that engine) I believe my slowest runner is the "green machine" but I don't remember what it'll do anymore ?
-
Please share the video when you do Jan, even if it doesn’t quite beat this ;)
-
So cool Nick !!!
Love to play around with the engines like this myself, might have to pick up the challenge, and see if anything of mine will beat this impressive "slow motion" run.
-
Running with governor un-belted at around 50 volts
I counted 11 rotations in the last 25 seconds, so if I have done my math right, that would be 26.4 RPM's. I think a non-reversing 25 may be able to beat this one...
