Love the boat, but did see it going backwards!! How did you do that?

I think I read someplace that he has a controllable pitch propeller.

Slow Arrow, that's fascinating.
Jim, cool boat. I hope someone makes a prairie tractor from one of Jin's engines.

Bonjour Mike,
I fully agree with you, our speed steam boats with displacement hulls are 1n30 - 1,40 meter long.

To avoid this wave phenomenon, I plan to make a planing hull like on an offshore, already done in the past :

I love that video!  I was struck by how well that smooth water shows the "hull speed" or maximum speed of a displacement hull.  The Hull Speed limit is the result of the drag caused by the wave created by the hull moving through the water.  The wave (peak to peak) gets longer the faster the hull moves.  When the length of the wave equals the length of the hull at the waterline - that is as fast as you can go (unless you get on top of the water and "plane").  You can calculate that speed in Knots by multiplying the square root of the hull length at the waterline (in feet) by 1.34.

Sorry - just too many memories of the naval architecture classes popped into my head while watching that.  8)
