Title: Re: The mystery of the vertical Microcosm Hit & Miss engine #3

Bonjour,

Addition : about my engine running in the opposite side, I also moved the big pinion that is behind the cam and not checked if it had a precise position with respect to said cam. I guess it is the answer to this mystery.
If Jin reads this message, perhaps he will confirm and indicate how to position the big pinion regarding a top dead point.

Bonjour Pascal,
Bas luck indeed, mine arrived correctly, I just paid an extra fee of 30,00 €. Alain also got his one.
I hope you will finally succeed because it is a real fun to see this engine hit and miss. Let us know the next episodes of your adventure.

Bonjour Len,
Thank you for your explanation. Just a detail, I do not know how I changed the timing of my engine I just removed and replaced the screw and the pinion of the exhaust cam to put back verticl the pusher before tightening everything

Hi,
I have several engines timing set past top dead center run opposite. Changing timing before or after can allow a single cylinder engine to run either direction. Timing at exact TDC  might allow an engine to run in both directions.

Len.

Bonjour,
It was not obvious on my previous videos, but I had a lot of difficuties to start my engine. Having solved my problem of loose cam, I try out of curiosity to run my engine in the opposite direction.
And there, surprise, it starts almost at the first time! How is it possible ? This engine can run in both directions ? Have you got any idea of what happens to my engine ? The proof :
