I saw his post. That’s what I want to do, spend an hour of prep time then sit and watch over coffee and the newspaper! I may not go anywhere with it, but since I dodged spending 5 large on the new Jensen 50 I’ve felt liberated to go with full scale hit n miss and the Briggs. Really glad I didn’t spend big on the 50.

The Millie is so easy too fine-tune and I've easily ran it 40-45 minutes without touching it. I know Dave (jerseysteam) has reported 75 minute run-time with his.

That Mille in the snow is EXACTLY what I’m thinking of! I’ve seen both of those vids back when.  I’m trying to contain myself with Jensen, hit n miss, vintage Briggs, all in play now. So far so good but the garden railroad type stuff will further diversify the playground. ( retiring soon-woot!)

I cannot suggest which gauge is better, but I went with O-gauge (32mm) as I have about a dozen or so 100 year old Bings, Märklin, and Carette locos, along with my Bowmans and Mamods that are all O-gauge. When I someday get an outdoor layout going I am going to use dual-gauge track from Sunset Valley Railroad so I can also run G-gauge (45mm).

Hi Tim, I HIGHLY recommend you look into a Roundhouse Millie as a beginner. There are a few members here like Chris Cairns, Larry (jkbixby) and Dave (jerseysteam) that have a lot of experience.  ;)

What is a good forum or site for gathering ideas if I ever want to set up a STEAM loco and tender to run around a simple oval OUTDOOR track. Garden train style. I just had a new shop built and a lot of concrete to run on in an inside/ outside loop with maybe a temporary trestle over the steps. Just dreaming at this point.
