Thanks all! This has been put on the back burner for a year and I need to finish it. Been so many other projects at hand since then. My biggest hurdel has been the smoke stack support and my own engine to couple to it.

Having a second look at this thread, I am only now getting my arms around what great work you are doing...!!!

Jim, I made formers and hammered the brass around them. You need the right type of brass though.
What a great job you did on them. Very professional looking.
-
Great looking boiler Jed, how did you form the boiler end caps?

Interesting, I would have thought a milled peice of steel would have survived for the Firebox sides using a round nose end mill to mimick the cement but that's another level using the doll house bricks to make the pattern.
Going to enjoy the updates. 😀

This is starting to look really good.

I think these may be easier to build than a Stuart No. 9?
-
Globe valve bodies and handwheels.
-
I think some will know the direction I am going with this??
-
Well, I wanted to build my own style of engine. So I made the patterns, from real doll house bricks, and casted them from aluminum. The boiler is also hand made. 3" dia, 6 3/4 long with an immersion heater in it. Joints are silver brazed of all brass construction. So far, I have been using commercially available fittings, except for the globe valve. I had that casted from phosphor bronze. The handwheel is of my own design.

Looks like i could use some soldering tips Jed! My soldering never looks that good.

Nice work Jed, those look neat soldered joints. Nice work.
Where did you get the castings for the Firebox ends. Or did you cast them yourself?
-
Trying to figure it all out.

Another.
