Doug,
The Jensen 95G I have that was bought new in 2008 was around $775. It would be interesting to know the total number built since it seems to be a rare occasion when one shows up for sale.
I think you may have the earliest 15 generator around since it appears to be painted the earlier darker blue and the base is a different size (I believe it’s larger) than all the others I’ve seen. A fantastic piece, especially at $15!!
Mike,
My 15 was missing the wooden base and the lamp. I made the base and bought a lamp post from Jensen, then made the lamp post base. So mine is not 100% original. You have a rare piece indeed.

Well, that would explain the differences. Still a great piece, nonetheless!

I bought my 95G on November 26, 2012, and I received it on
January 07, 2013. It cost me $728.95

...I bought my 95g new from jensen- i don't remember how much they cost at the time, but I'm sure it was under $1K...
When introduced in 2005, the #95 was priced at $649.98, when the stock depleted in 2017 it was priced at $772.95.

Wow! It's hard to believe these prices! I bought my 15 for $15, but had no idea what i had at the time. I bought my 95g new from jensen- i don't remember how much they cost at the time, but I'm sure it was under $1K.
The 15 is a great addition Mike-Congrats.

Thanks, guys! I’m really thrilled to have this 15 in my collection. 😊

Congratulations Mike!

Very nice Mike, I enjoyed that very much ...think I'll watch it again 😊👍

What an AWESOME pairing! 8) 8)
I would run that for hours too. Have always liked the look of the big tag on this era of 50's

Here’s a video of my Jensen 50 pulling the early 15 generator. I think I ran it for almost 3 hours straight today. 😁

Mike, I believe you made a good sale/trade. I would love an old standalone Jensen 15 like that, but I guess I'm just looking for love in all the wrong places!!!
Rog
I agree, Rog. Opportunity doesn’t usually knock more than once on something like this. It could be years before another shows up. You don’t build a Jensen collection by passing on high prices. We all know that. You have to pay to play sometimes. Lol

"Wow, the Jensen stuff is really starting to go through the roof"
Yes , the vintage stuff is bringing good money 💲💰

Interesting story Mike, it's in extremely good condition, also interesting to know what Jensen values them at. I find the hardest sellers to deal with are the ones who are told by others what something is worth.
Bruce, you are absolutely right. If a high figure is planted in a seller’s head, then anyone trying to convince them it’s too high, is perceived as trying to rip them off. The seller is also trying to sell one of those later Empire engines with the copper colored boiler for $200. I think he’ll be sitting on that one for a while.

That's great that another one showed up! So there are at least 3 on the forum, all in very nice condition 8)

This is a new find straight from an attic in Wisconsin. It was very poorly listed on eBay, but I sure didn’t get a great deal on it like you’d think. After selling the 95G, it was an even swap. The seller, after finding the 15 in his attic, called Jensen to ask what it was worth. They told him an average value was $1200!! How they came up with that, I have no idea. After a lot of negotiating, I was able to get the 15 down to $1003 out the door, so it’s not quite the highest selling 15 ever, but it’s close.. 😀 The seller was one tough nut to crack. He said he had other buyers that were willing to pay more, but I was the first one he talked to so he gave me first refusal. I kept checking the listing on watchcount and after more than week, it only had about 30 views and 1 watcher, so I knew nobody was finding it. He knew it too and was trying to make me nervous by talking about other buyers. I didn’t want to press my luck with more haggling, so I went ahead and did the deal. Even though I had to step up and pay for it, I am thrilled to have it in my collection. It’s in fantastic condition and will light the bulb with just a finger flick of the pulley.

If you had an extra Jensen 95G, would you give it up for a Jensen 15?😁
Very wise choice!! 8) Is this one that we have seen before from another forum member, or a new find?
It is not mine Nick, congratulations Mike , one but of a few out there..& yours is "REALLY" nice

Thanks, guys! I’ll reveal on Wednesday the reason why I sold the 95G. 😁
I know the 95G was an "extra", but the new engine must be a special one 8)

You Snooze You Lose. 😢😢😢
Congrats on the sale Mike.

Congrats on the sale Mike, and the same to the lucky new owner !
...and please do remember to point them in direction of this place Mike ;)

Jan was right. It didn’t sit long and sold tonight. Going to a good home in Florida.
Do we know the buyer? :)
The name wasn’t familiar to me, but they seem to be a serious collector.

Very tempting Mike.
If I don’t buy anything significant at Cabin Fever, I will PM you if it is still available.
High on my want list for sure. 🤠

Just noticed your reduction Mike, definitely shouldn´t sit long at that price :)

A very rare chance to bag one of these, as just a 5 (6 with yours here) of them has been recorded on Ebay, since i started my database back in 2013.
In fact in that database a pre-war riveted boiler #25, would have to be considered quite common by comparison.

I’ve decided to offer up one of my Jensen 95G turbines to generate funds for other collection additions.
This 95G is like new except for a small blemish at the front of firebox. Included is the instruction sheet and the packing list from when it was purchased new from ministeam.com on the 24th of September 2011. It’s only been run twice by me and maybe once by the previous owner.
We all know these have been discontinued and no additional ones will ever be made again. It has been mentioned that one recently sold for $1250, so that’s where I will start with my asking price. Shipping will be based on the buyer’s location. I would prefer US buyers only. Sorry, trying to keep it simple.
If you’ve been wanting one of these, you can’t go wrong with this one.
