Thanks for posting the additional videos David.
Always good to see the Famous Quobble.
And the Modified Maiwald caught my eye.
Thanks for your wonderful contributions to GPU 2020.

Benny, Gil. Thank you!
I've been rummaging through my earliest, YouTube account. Before Google took it from me.
Almost 10 years ago. When the Huxtable arrived, from Australia.....
https://youtu.be/0UVGufGPH-s
Thermo accoustic engine.......
https://youtu.be/A4TjHWMLYrc
Quobble. My four cylinder Mamod engine. Running slowly......
https://youtu.be/QlZnje9LIME
Modified, Maiwald engine.....
https://youtu.be/RhXIToNGxSY
Finally. Robbo. (Sunglasses advised)......
https://youtu.be/NLmL7mvh3VQ
I hope everyone has enjoyed my reminiscing, as much as I have.
Thank you, all, for looking in. David.

Thanks, David. I have also been using Mobil 1 synthetic 0W-20 or 0W-30.
These modern synthetics are great and they don't gum up after a year or two of sitting.
-
David, those are some sharp stirling and I like the repurposing of materials. Thanks for the tips on running and for the excellent table
-
You're welcome, Charlie! ;)
-
David:
Thanks for the helpful tips on lubrication for Stirling Engines. 👍
Very helpful.

Bruce. Thank you!
Gil. Thank you!
Regarding lubrication, for hot air engines....
I see a lot of differing ideas. And, I often try them out. Always returning to my old favourite. (Suggested by Reid, many years ago).
If it is metal on metal. Rotating, or sliding. I use 5w-30 full synthetic. As in my car.
The only variant is this engine......

The displacer is moved, only, by the impulses from the power piston.
It will only run, with half a drop of this oil on it's horizontal displacer shaft.

Most of my engines have graphite pistons. So, need no cylinder lubrication.
I never use graphite powder on power pistons, preferring an oil film to seal the running clearance.

Hi David, I just read over your thread madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9661.0.html (https://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9661.0.html)
and the performance increases achieved are quite impressive. It looks a lot better, too!
I am wondering what oil you use on this and some small Stirling Cycle engines where you might not use graphite. I have found on some of my least powerful engines, a 50/50 mix of naphtha and synthetic clock oil helps by thinning the oil to where it is less of a drag on friction bearing surfaces.
Very well done...!!!
Gil

good stuff, thanks for showing.

This is the rebuild of a small Bengs flamelicker Nick.

Note how it's performance improves, after each modification. (Unusual!).... https://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9661.0.html

Thanks for your kind comments, chaps. Very much appreciated!
Please remember, I have no real archives. Only the wreckage left after the p-bucket fiasco.
I'm so pleased, I have my previous build posts to look back on.
This is Metisse. (As it arrived). Came to me as a swap, for a Solar 1 hot air engine....
(https://i.postimg.cc/gJS9f1xP/P1030147.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Still with me. Still running full show days, 8 or 9 times a year.
Hope you find the build, interesting.... https://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,8821.0.html

I have to agree, that last one looks totally like it was a commercial production .... NICE!
Very interesting and eclectic start, I'll look back soon hoping for more!!!
-
Looks professionally made!
Agreed. Impressive how good it looks from salvaged and reclaimed materials.

This engine is still with me. Still doing it's job, 6 hours or so, every show day.
I call it, Gold Blend.... It's a coffee jar engine. ;)
(https://i.postimg.cc/qMxbmT2g/P1010737.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Made from mostly, household components.
Coffee storage jar, dog's feeding bowl, wooden chopping board, omelette pan, Land Rover heater pipe.
The original balsa wood displacer, has now been replaced by a Lyles golden syrup tin. It is now meths fired.
Here is the original build sequence... https://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,5732.0.html
A McGyver Engine!
Very resourceful.

I like that finger motor, it has those finger spinners all beat. That was a great story about your grand daughter.
Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water, she remembered.
Thanks Tommy.
She's 10yrs old, now.
Reminds me every time I'm packing for a show. "Don't forget my engine, for the boys and girls to play with". Bless her!
Girls, seem much more intrigued than boys......

Only had the one accident.
When one little madam snatched it off the table. And, dropped it. Bending one of the cranks.... >:(

Charlie, Larry.
Thank you, both!
Unfortunately, the green one was not mine. It was on Ebay, at the same time as I was fumbling. I couldn't believe tha price paid! :o
Mine, went back to it's previous owner, in Scotland. Who eventually moved it on, again.
I call it the Cosmic Engine Supply System. They come They go. Countrywide. Worldwide.
I will be showing several more. Some I still have. Most, I have swapped for other orphans to resuscitate... ;)
-
Both engines are great - good work!
-
I read both of the threads you posted for your Table David.
Great stuff!
I loveMia’s Finger Engine.
You also did a very nice job on the Hot Air Engine. I love the Green Color.
Thank you for participating in GPU 2020. 🤠

Not sure, just how this will progress.
As all the earlier pics are on p-bucket, and need an add on, to be viewed.
I have been reminiscing recently. Delving into the past years since I retired, and set up my little workshop.
One from relatively recently. Mia's Engine. (p-bucket free).....
