The cylinder is a little sloppy. I applied quite a bit of steam oil to get it to seal.
It's fun when you add oil and they pick up speed like that 8)
-
Really like the cast engine base on that one, especially the cast governor frame 8)
Thanks Nick.

Otherwise, it ran great and no leaks. 🤠

I thought I would sneak in this video befor Nick locks down GPU 2020.
I steamed this up earlier today.

Thank you Benny, Jan and Gil.
I had a blast with the event this year!
Time to start thinking about next year. 🤠
-
Very well done, Charlie...!!! All of it...!
-
WOW Charlie, what a blast it has been going though your table here.
Thank you so much, for sharing these rare gems with us all :)
-
Dang, Charlie. I thought you had outdone yourself already but somehow you did. That 689 is so perfect it's silly. And I always love finding stuff like that note on the Bing. I've been known to open the frame of every picture I buy, looking for maps to One-eyed Willy's treasure.
-
It was a busy and fun weekend.
A big thank you to all participants in GPU 2020.
IMHO a smashing success for the Inaugural Event.
I really enjoyed the variety of the Tables and I saw many items I had not seen before.
I believe I viewed all 41 Tables and commented on all of them.
Charlie
Now up to 42 Tables! :)
Now up to 44 Tables! 🤠
-
Love how purple the boiler ends and endcaps are on this one

Keep a low flame on that one if you do fire it up to preserve that 8)
I am not going to have time to steam this one....a very minty Carette 689/2 Patterned Base.
-
I just noticed that this was on the bottom of the Bing 130/262.
It identifies it as Carette, but I am fairly certain it is the Bing.
Definitely a Bing and another high up on my "want-list". I have a pair of Bings on this type of base, with this boiler that are small oscillators with a gear driven dynamo. Still neat to keep that paper with it, knowing what it sold for nearly 50 years ago.
-
That 367/1 was a very smart buy Charlie, love how heavy that cast engine base is 8)

Charlie my good fellow ..... you owe me a pair of socks!
Because you knocked mine right off with the spectacular offerings here on your table!!!
Thanks for sharing all of this with us ;c)
Daniel:
Thank you for all of your kind feedback during the event. I had planned to Steam one this morning. But, I ran out of time.
So, here is a picture of my final offering for GPU 2020; a Doll 367/1. This engine has a cast iron base and is very heavy for its size. Everything is original (other than the whistle handle) and it is unrestored.

Holy cow Charlie, how many of those do you have stashed under the bed and stuffed in the mattress.
Can't wait to see what's in store for tomorrow. You just keep em coming.
Thank you Tommy.
I have one more engine to film in the morning.
I am not going to have time to steam this one....a very minty Carette 689/2 Patterned Base.

Steamed for the first time today.

I will be adding a couple more patterned base engines from my collection today. I was supposed to be flying to Miami today, but the event was canceled due to the Corona Virus Hysteria.
Presenting my Doll 335/2.

Keeping with the patterned base theme of my table, a wee little Bing Model 9064/2 Circa 1909. Expertly repaired by Danny.

Great idea with the 360 video 8) I think you can squeeze a few more in there ;) :D
I still have a little space Nick. 🤠
-
Really impressive Charlie - truly a great collection.
Thank you Larry. Sadly, no basements in Texas.

I added another video in the first post for my Table with a 360 Degree Tour of my Steam Toy Cave aka The Garage.
-
Thanks Len and Mike!
-
World class display there, Charlie!!
-
Very Nice!
-
The Plank(as to be expected) are magnificent. Splendid.
What wasn't expected was the searchlight/engine. That is a great piece, and the first I've seen.
Thank you Benny.
I wasn’t expecting it to arrive and hadn’t planned on including it with my Table.
Then, the mailman showed up with it yesterday, and, after opening it, I had to give it a run.
And since I was going to run it, I figured I should film it.
And since I filmed it, I figured I should edit the footage and include it with my Table. 🤠
Kevin makes really nice engines.
-
Congrats on your new editions to the collection, Charlie.
More amazing engines to your already amazing collection, super
Thanks Danny. And you didn’t have to work on any of them. 🤠
-
You are pushing a whole lot of good buttons here Charlie ..... keep up the good "work"!!!
Thank you!
Definitely keeping me busy.
-
Charlie, you know those litho-Planks are true art.
Your video production value has gone thru the roof, great work. I need to step up my game :)
Thanks Scott. And all done on an iPad. I really enjoy the filming and editing aspect of the hobby.
-
Awesome display, Charlie...!!!!
Now that is how to walk the Plank!
Thank you Gil! 🤠
-
Charlie, nice plank lineup, and in superb condition. Where do you find these?
The Gamage was a wreck from an eBay auction in 2018. I bought it because the governor and base were in excellent condition and it had the chimney. The SV, Whistle, Drain Plug and Burner were missing and it was filthy.
The other Horizontal was bought in a private transaction.
The Ships Engine came from eBay this year and the Seller is from the Netherlands.

Yes, that XOOM was something new to figure out... I'd still like to order an Angelique from him
-
That's a good looking setup especially with the searchlight - is it available or is it a one-off model? Either way I like it!
He made a batch of these in the past. But, he hadn't made this model in some time. If you are interested, email him. If he has one available and you decide to get one, I can help with the XOOM payment. At this point, I have him on speed dial.

Video #3 of my Ernst Plank Viaduct made exclusively for A.W. Gamage, Holborn, London.
I restored this one a year ago.
But, this is the first opportunity to Steam it.

Awesome to see that 374 in steam 8) Love the twin stacks 8)

Still love the boiler on the little one 8)
Thanks Nick.
I will be steaming the little EP Gamage Viaduct later this morning.
This is the video I published on March 29, 2019 after completion of the restoration of the EP Gamage Viaduct engine.
https://youtu.be/eycyEZbzOWc
The other two which I already posted the videos of were steamed and the videos were edited yesterday.
-
Video #2 is my first steam up of a near mint Ernst Plank Horizontal Engine No. ??
I took delivery of this engine at Cabin Fever 2020 from another Forum Member.
I have done nothing to it other than giving it a light dusting.

Welcome to my table for GPU 2020.
First off is a short introduction video for my table.
The theme for my table is three Ernst Plank Litho Base Engines all being steamed.
I am excited to be participating in the Inaugural event! 🤠.
Also, a big congratulations to everyone for our first anniversary.
👏👏👏👏👏

I made a 360 degree Tour of my Steam Toy Cave which I finished editing this morning.
This was an experiment.
I placed my motorized turntable on a stool in the middle of the room and then placed my DJI Osmo Pocket mounted on a small tabletop tripod on the turntable.
