I just ordered some 3/4" seamless stainless steel tubing from McMaster-Carr and 3/4" 360 brass rod.
I will make the base from brass then nickel plate it then I will press it into the tubing.

I had a chimney like that on my Empire B30 Paul , it was chewed up pretty bad by what I assume was a small vise grip , I had pretty good luck hammering it back into shape by using deep well sockets inserted inside the chimney while tapping the dents out and going to gradually larger sockets, I finished up by inserting round stock in my lathe,sliding the chimney over it and forcing a roller bearing back & forth over the length, wasn't hard & didn't take that long & the results were worth the effort. 😉👍

The threads are 1/8” pipe and I believe you are correct about the construction.

My mostly very nice Empire b30 has one problem ; a pliers damaged chimney / safety valve ,filler assembly.
I would like to make a replacement ,but a few questions first:
What are the threads used?
Was this made from brass tubing and the bottom soft-soldered on?
