Hey Nick, first of all, where did you find my old video of my Buckman Beam, I thought it got lost in cyber space. It's not showing up in my You Tube library.
Non of my old ones are.
I like the safety stopper you made on your's. I'll have to try it maybe with a spit shot and a thin bead of silicone.
On my beam engine the weight arm is high up(see pics) so I made one with brass tube soldered in side another, soldered shut, a slit cut for the arm and a
slice of silicone tube for a gasket. The stopper, weight, and steam line was all that was missing when I got that one.
I didn't make the stopper, mine came with it, but I do have to make 5 or 6 someday...

Made a wooden stopper for the fill hole out of paint brush handle, works good.
Your stopper does look great, but I took the easy way and picked up some small corks at the hardware store for a nickel a piece.
I have to make the stopper for safety valve yet. Made one before for my old beam engine, my avatar, it's just a little different in the height.
I do not know if any of my Buckmans have an original arm/weight/stopper as they are all different. The one on this engine is homemade from a strip of copper and a screw head soldered on. The slot is filled with solder, very clever and easy way to make the seal. Hopefully you can see it in one of these pictures...

Yes those were with a tape measure. The caliper's are reading out side dia. 2.337", inside the lip 2.263", length 6.016",
flywheel dia. 3.960". Your's is the first one I've seen with something other than a blue base.

I'm assuming yours are rough measurements and we have the same engine, BUT mine has a red engine base where yours is a light blue... why, oh why does there have to be variations in the hobby?? Now I need to find this one :D :D
I am getting boiler diameter of about 2.360" and 2.285" inside the ends and just a hair over 6" long with a 4 spoke flywheel of 3.910"
These engines turn over so smooth and I like the spring setup holding the cylinder tight

The base tells me it was close to the Weeden line. The boiler is riveted on the bottom seam from end to end, forgot the picture. Nick, what model is this?
