Well done Bill & Gil.
-
I’m glad it arrived safely!

The #50 landed here Thursday.
Mr. Tom, On behalf of my friend, Bill, thank you very much for the superb packing job..!!!

Looks great with the kids, too!
-
Nick the size of your rig is very impressive.
I notice it inhales the entire top of your picnic table.!
Haha, yes, but it's a kid's picnic table

I was all tempted to bid more for this one to. Now that it's sold I'll point out something that really stands out but often overlooked. I think Gil has aquired a very interesting year 50 here. Personally I can't recall seeing an angled sight glass #50 boiler on a brick firebox. Hopefully you can procure a brick smokestack base. I think its a very nice engine and one not often seen.
Kudos to all. Thanks Tom and congrats Gil and buyer.
Thanks, Jack. I don't know for sure which way this project will go until it gets here and I have had time to scare up a few parts and look it over up close.
In the early 1960's the fireboxes were brick and the boilers retained the slanted tube site glass into the mid 60's or later. It was sometime between 1965 and 1968 that the 3 round windows found their way into production.
-
Nice. I'm more drawn to that generator. Cool.
You two can do some horse trading.. lol
That's awesome

I assume this 50 of mine with angled sight glass came on a brick firebox given the brick smokestack base, but it has darker blue engine base.

Congrats Gil.
That would be a perfect base for one of those riveted boilers you have. Will you drop one on it or just restore it back to original shape?
-
Thank you Mr. Tom!
We are with you on "stay Safe" above all.

The Jensen 50 has been sold for the best offer of $2800. Congratulations to the new owner! Thanks everyone for your interest, comments and offers! Best wishes and stay safe.
-
Thanks, Mr. Tom.
-
I’ll continue taking offers on this Jensen 50 for about 24 more hours. Current best offer is $2800 from RedRyder.
I’ll finalize the sale around 3:00 p.m. tomorrow 4/25/2020. Don’t wait till the last minute, I may not see your offer!
Don’t miss this opportunity to acquire a sought after engine. These don’t change hands that often- previous owner kept this one for over 40 years! Thanks. Mr. Tom

Bidding for a friend: 2800.

Other than being afflicted with cabin fever, we' all seem to be weathering things relatively well, with our current restrictions taken into consideration. Jensen is no stranger to surviving extreme hard times, so don't be too quick to count us out. Luckily, we are able to scale operations with some significant flexibility, although the current situation is unprecedented. Our major concern these days is for our loyal fans who might not be in any position to support us with new orders, once we're allowed to reopen. We worry about you guys, just as you worry about our well being. Funny how that relationship works... eh?

Home built water reservoir and chuff pot are included. Nothing fancy, but it will allow the new owner to immediately plug and play.
-
Thanks for your bid. There is no reserve. Bidding will end next Saturday afternoon 4/25/2020. Good luck!
-
When will the auction end? Is there a reserve price?
My bid $2550
-
My Bid is 2500.00
-
Great! I am happy to kickoff the official bidding at $2,000.00
I see your $2000, & raise you to $2100 ;)

Thanks for your interest! Yes, the feed pump is filling the boiler. It works great. The water tank is not original but is included in the sale.
Having a feed pump and tank really increases the fun factor and allows for longer run times. Happy bidding!
-
Hi Mr. Tom, thx for giving the forum members a crack at your 50. I am among those intending to bid. I was unable to tell if the feedwater pump is filling the boiler in your video. Can you comment as to its performance? Thx,
-

Hi Tom, Great to see your Jensen #50 listed for sale here!
Gil

Those were the days!
Whew. I wish those prices were good today 😉👍
-
Thanks for posting that! ;D

That picture from 1975 is great! 8) And I'd love to see a good shot of that full 1983 parts/price list specific to the 50 ;)

Thanks to everyone who has shown an interest in this Jensen 50. I mentioned that this machine has some cosmetic issues which I will now address, so that potential bidders can have plenty of time to think things over.
Pic#1 Extraneous nail holes in plywood base. Plating on feed pump priming plug worn. Dark spot on cast iron engine base appears to be worn paint.
Pic#2 Discoloration of paint on cast iron appears to be steam oil. I have never attempted a thorough cleaning or polishing, only a wipe down. Original chimney mount is missing. Shown is an expedient mount made by me. Fire box is discolored due to previous owner experimenting with propane firing.
Pic#3 Combustion air inlets courtesy of previous owner. Cords are new retro-look. Heating elements are new 500 watt each.
Pic #4 Two extraneous holes in fire box. Whistle handle has a small melty spot. Gauge face is slightly discolored due to steam condensation.
Pic #5 Some stray green paint on edge of plywood. A little grime on generator base and lamp post.
Pic#6 Some new parts straight from Jensen. Hayco restraints, complete gasket set, sight glass tube and gaskets with handwritten instructions, new style pressure gauge, whistle handle (wooden and slightly larger than original).
Pic#7 Labels indicating chain of ownership. Vintage photo of this engine circa 1975 at full steam, powering a table full of accessories via jack shaft and leather belts.
Pic #8 A little Jensen ephemera 1950s - 1980s.
This Jensen 50 is a joy to own and operate as is. This may be an opportunity to acquire a sought after engine at a price discounted due to cosmetics. Thanks for looking.
-
Hey Mr. Tom, I too would be interested in learning more about your 50 and potentially bidding. Might even consider a trade for my beloved York-Bolton, seen running on air...
-
So many have cut back on purchasing anything right now.
Still plenty of buyers for the right steam engine....a Jensen #50 qualifies as the "right" steam engine, he will have no problem selling this when he's ready. ;)
-
So many have cut back on purchasing anything right now. So many small businesses are hurting and now even big businesses are getting scared since their bottom line has fallen out.
We really need to rush those vaccines...

Lets clear this up right now.
Jensen is not closed for good.
They will re-open when the rest of PA goes back to work.
Dorita will take orders now.
They will be filled on reopening.
This thread has her phone for order placement.

They are fully aware of all that is available.

You may be right about the Jensen factory BBToyz, but I sure hope not!
Thanks everyone for your input so far!
-
I would hold to this treasure if I can. Looks like Jensen May be out of business for good this time = no more Jensen 50 in production, and yours has the good Cast Iron base dynamo not the struck cheap one. I also hate low ball bids, but I am ramping it up to a higher low ball bid of $2850. Good luck with the sale.
-
Nice engine Tom.
-
Well I'm NOT a bidder at this point. If I entertained buying it at auction I would be ready to go $4500.
-
I'm a bidder at $2000.00 to get it started
-
Very Nice!!

At that time I am prepared to take the highest bid over $2000. Buyer will please pay actual shipping. My zip is 65401. Shipping weight is about 50 pounds. Please scroll down this thread to see detailed pictures and descriptions. If you mentioned a price figure in the comments below, please make your bid official by announcing it here. Good luck to all! https://youtu.be/8vLdx4BeixM
