Maurice, do you have a YouTube account? A link to YouTube would be an easier way to "show your stuff".

Excellent work by the way!

Hi gents,

It took a while but finally it's done, I am happy with the result:

-New paint
-New Nickel layer on most parts and boiler rims.

Next challenge is to find a burner....[attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3][attachimg=4][attachimg=5]

The bluing came out nice with a 1:20 solution.

Hi Charlie,

Danny's site gave me the impulse to try this out, I am anxious to get started....
I live in Brasil, so the availability of these bluing products are limited.

Wow!

You have been busy.

Looks like a very nice job.

Here is a great description from Nuvolari (Danny) from his website (stoomwereld.be) on bluing boilers:

Hi Charlie,

Spent some time on the boiler, all the threads were bad so I replaced the double plates on the insude of the boiler.
I managed to get rid of some dents and re-soldered the boiler end plate and box.
The original paint was all gone, so I decided to apply a new paint as close as possible to the original, previous shared pictures helped a lot.
I am now looking for the right tools to do the red paint striping (before applying varnish)..... which will be a challange.
I have ordered chemicals to do a new buing on the boiler.
The safety valve has been rebuild with the sliding weight.

regards,

Maurice.

Any update on the restoration Maurice?

BTW:  Schoenner was taken over by Falk and Falk continued to use the remaining inventory of Schoenner until it was depleted.

Hi stoker,

That's a good looking Falk, with nice bluing on the boiler.
It definitely has a lot of similarities with the smaller 107, thanks for sharing.

Maurice.

Feed pump yes  ... burner no, and the sight glass is a poorly fitted glass tube that I did to replace the obviously compromised plastic tube that it came with. Other than that it seemed all original and unmolested.

Nice engine Daniel.  With feed pump as well.

I also have a similar overtype, though perhaps the next smaller model, that is definitely a Falk as it carries a JF embossed into the left side of the firebox. My engine also has the screw set sliding weight on the safety valve, and has an extremely dark green (almost black) casting paint with dark red pinstriping.

Thanks,

I guess the safety with the hanging weight comes from another machine, I will place the threaded sliding weight.

Maurice.

Mine all have the threaded sliding safety valve as well, each valve being the same and the weight differing depending on maker

Maurice, mine also has the brown bearing blocks and it could be a Schoenner, not sure it really matters as they are nearly identical.

Hi from Brasil, Scott

Thank you very much for the great pictures and information, you have a nice machine there .
How did you indentify your Falk ?  The brown colors were usually used on Schoenner ?
Is it the lack of the numbers on the base and flywheel ?
See attached picture of my original schoenner crank bracket Brown, black and gold striping.

Hi from Texas, Maurice.

I have a Falk 456/2 which I understand is very similar ("ahnlich") to the Schoenner 107 model line.

These engines originally came with the hold down screw type safety valve weight.

Keep us posted.

Post by: mauricedelaat on May 13, 2020, 10:07:00 am
Hi all,

I am repairing a Schoenner 107/13s, using parts from a donor machine.
The machine is stamped 143F in the base and 104S in the flywheel, which confirms the Schoenner origin.
Unfortunately there is not a lot of information available on the 107, which bring me to the following doubt:
The safety valve on the boiler has a loose hanging weight, segured  against dropping off with a pin on the end of the bar.
I have checked the holes in the boiler, including the steel plates inside the boiler, and the looks all original.
Of all the pictures I found, I could not find any 107 with a hanging weight, but only with the screwed on weights.
Does anybody have a 107 with this configuration or info on the various models ?
I would very much appreciate if somebody could share some information on the subject in order to confirm that this valve comes with the original configuration.

Regards,

Maurice.
