Thank you, Swift fox! The hopper is absolutely resistant to freeze damage. It also catches a little more rain!

Bonjour Gil,
As said as comment on the video, yu have an amazing workshop full of beautiful engines and it is funny to see this great one close to Jin's vertical one, You are really an ecclectic collector  ;)

Great runner Gil!

I am I right in saying that this engine has the patent water hopper that was resistant to cracking when water was left in over freezing temps?

This engine did not run when I got it 3 years ago from Tim, the fellow who maintains the New Holland Gas Engine Registry. I knew it was built really well as it was Dick Shelly that built it and it is his #11 in this scale.

Once I brought it home and went over all the little adjustments, it became one of my most reliable engines. From that point forward, it would be one of my most reliable gas engine models. It would always start with the first or second pull even after sitting on the shelf for months.

At the Rough & Tumble Mid Winter Gathering in Kinzers, PA, February 2020, it just wouldn't run for more than a half minute or so. I wiped it down, placed it back in it's wood case and that is where it sat until now. CrazyDoug had a question about it as he was working on two of them at that time. Once I got it out of the box, I just had to get it going right again. Thank you, Doug, for the inspiration!

I went over all the little adjustments and all were still perfect.
So I took the head off and there was the culprit..... A build up of part burned oil and carbon on the ignitor.
It was an easy fix.... I gave it a good cleaning, re-assembled it and it was once again the most reliable 1/3 scale New Holland I have ever seen.

Enjoy,

Gil

Here is the mess I found at the ignitor.
