Bruce,
I never saw this steam workshop you made, until now. ABSOLUTELY brilliant work!!!!! Do you have more videos of it?
-
Thanks Daniel & Charlie, nice to make something from that scrap we all have that 'will come in handy one day'.
-
Jim:
Well done mate.
A nice design; well executed.
Charlie
-
That looks as though it will do the job just mighty fine!!!
Funny how something can sit in the 'to do' list for years.
Yes Sir ....... I have whole bunches of those!
Hey Jim, did you notice, you've gone onto all fours on us here!!!

Made this morning out of some aluminium scrap. I've been wanting to make a holder for this big BIX for ages -

I have the pump Charlie, but I really like the mechanical drum (and also the Stuart Score!) :)
-
I like both of those accessories Charlie, and it is also good seeing Teddy supervising the operations!
Thanks Daniel.
Both kits are really well made and I believe under $20 each.
The Stuart Score engine worked out really well and easily runs both accessories.
I really should run it on steam.
-

Not scratch built; but, built from two kits and paired with a Stuart Score Steam engine:

Considering that the Fixture and Jig that I built would qualify as accessories in themselves, needed in order to make the Switch Stand accessory, then I might as well show them here too!
The one is actually more of a bending "machine" that is both a fixture and a jig, thus was a far more significant project than the switch stand itself.
Exploded, sub-assembly view:
[attachimg=1]
In use at full compression:
[attachimg=2]
Opened upon completion of forming:
[attachimg=3]
The whole shebang; bending machine (fixture & jig), soldering fixture as well as a bunch of pre-machined parts ready for assembly:
[attachimg=4]
-
That's something new to me and very clever Daniel, I'll google and read more about them when I have some time.
-
Don't know if this will even actually qualify for this thread or not, and certainly will be pathetic after Bill's (AirSpyder) showing, which I'm blessed to actually have the bandsaw and workshop from him, so I truly know up close and personal how amazing these creations are in real life!!!
In any case .... here goes.
I have fabricated a sort of not really prototypical nor scale model of a Harp Switch Stand as the throw machine for the switches on my eventual Fn3 scale outdoor railroad. That these are not quite directly "steam" accessories, I am well aware, but I do have several live steam locomotives that will run on this railroad, so in that capacity, these switch stands are .... sort of .... steam accessories.
So here ya go:
[attachimg=1]
Not really all that much in and of itself, but the process by which it was made, and all the fixtures and jigs that I had to build in order to make it, all add up to making this very special to me!
Perhaps I should add that this has equipped me to where I can now build any number of these, and in fact have produced the parts needed to build at least a dozen, which should do me for "Phase 1" of my railroad construction plans.
-
I'll share a couple of the accessories that I have done.
Those are Beautiful accessories. Best that I’ve seen!

Nothing spectacular, only a small workshop accessory...
I saw the original and thought it would be nice to have one of those...
Very nice!
Agreed , I would like to see more of what's lurking around in the background 😉

That's beautiful wood (and generator setup) - the color reminds me of Padauk which I use occasionally for an accent.
-
Jim, what is that gorgeous wood you use for plinths I love the color and grain.
Rog
Hi Rog, its called Merbau some call it Pacific Teak its a tropical mangrove tree. Its resistant to weather and termites and is used pretty intensively for flooring and pergolas etc in Oz.
I like it because it stays straight and doesn't cup or warp and takes a varnish or oil finish very nicely.

Some very nice builds here guys. Wish I had the skills.
None of these were built by me, but this is a cool video of some one of a kind builds:

Dougs Slinkey-tester was the one single inspiration-source behind my slinkey-accessorie.
I asked Doug for permition to persuit my own Version; which resulted in my slinkey-accessorie. It was my mastermind mechanical inclined friend Ioan who planned and built it.

This is a wonderful build Ola. Congratulations!
-
Is a chuff pot an accessory? I made one for my Krick Victoria.
Unfortunately, the environment Nazis still won't allow it at the local boat pond.
-
Good man that Jan!!!
Nice clean build there Jim!
-
This is a Juice Reducer for running electrically heated boilers. Jan (Classixs) took me under his wing and told me the exact components to purchase and when the arrived he drew a diagram and talked me through the building of it. I've had it and used it for years now and its been absolutely brilliant running 120v and 240v boilers.

I really like what you did with that compressor Jan - makes a great accessory!

Don´t know if this belongs here, as it really doesn´t count as an accessory i have "built, but more as a simple restoration and conversion into one.
None the less, here goes nothing...
My K.J. Miller compressor accessory:

your compressor certainly does belong here, it is superb, the job you did restoring it was outstanding, I remember the first time i saw it i went on the hunt to find a resto project for myself....none came up & I guess it got away from me....now I want one again...lol

That machine shop of yours, has been a firm favourite here, ever since the good old "Wilesco D22 Days" (https://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji7.png)
Have said it before, and will say it again...
Fabtastic job you did creating that Bruce, very well done !

the detail you have put into it.

Thank you Gil :)

This is a friction brake that I came up with. Turning the knob left or right increases or decreases the friction on the shaft, very simple and its very effective to put a load on an engine and of course fun to use :)
