Looks great that you´ve lowered it onto the lid itself.
Can you open the lid when it operates?
Thanks Jan, i can open it part way but to open it all the way it has to be stopped.

Well now that's fully modern and up to date .... you have a gentle cycle for delicate fabrics!
-

Thanks everyone. :)
Ron-(steam toys) sold me a water motor, thanks Ron and Gil for giving me a heads up.
It came today so we went to work on it, the leather cups were dried out and a couple other catches but we got it going and mounted it on a washing machine we built.

That`s interesting Marv, hard to find literature on some of the old stuff.
Been searching for days trying to find something about the agitator motor with no luck, i found one advertizing picture that showed the innards of one that used poppet valves.
-
White Showers oscillating sprinkler, i wonder what year?
-
Thanks Jan. :)
-
Interesting stuff those agitator motors Lenn :)
Never saw one of those before, only turbine-types with relatively low torque.
Keeping my fingers crossed, that you manage to hunt one down for your project.
...but until then, you certainly should be able to keep the laundry-situation at bay as is, given the amount of options already at hand.

Cool ones there, here`s some wash boards we made.

I've seen a lever powered hand washing machine engine before where the lever was on the front, and moved back and forth.
-
For now we decided to make a all hand powered washer, it`s not done yet have to add a wringer.

At a dead end on this project no agitator motors available and i`m not sure how to make one.
No big deal i`ll figure something out someday besides i really don`t need one i have five or six old washers. :)
-
This is a washer we made up i`m thinking of putting one of those on, it`s electric or hand operated now.

This is the cylinder i`m looking for.
-
Thanks gents thanks for the info very interesting, here`s another model i found .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rol58h-ANSM
The one i`m looking for was just a straight cylinder that mounted on top of a wood washing machine.
I`d like to build a whole washer like it.
-
this is a model Schmid water motor that i have.
i have also included pics of the porting and cross section
also an original that i wish i had.
a video of one running on air( less messy :-)

Hi Lenn, Great to hear from you again and I am glad you are still with us.
I recently sold a water motor that resembled a twin cylinder steam engine.
I think steamtoys (Ron) may have a couple early washing machine water motors.
-
Howdy fellers, been gone for a while suffering pain pretty bad.
Say a few years ago i seen a what looked like a steam engine that was run with water pressure, also seen a wood washing machine that ran from a water cylinder.
Anyone have any info about such a thing i`d like to make one, thanks.
