Jim,that is both a functional accessory and a work of art.  Your skills are pretty darn good in my eyes!  The wooden plinth really sets it off nicely.

Thank you kindly Rog.

Pressed the bearings in, routed and varnished a plinth and mounted the transmission using the brass bolts and had a test fit of all the components. Its nice and heavy and that will be an asset in use as it should stop it moving aorund -

Very cool Mempire (metric Empire)

With that transmission, I wonder if one could install a shift lever. Thinking 2 shaft with two bearing surfaces per shaft (think 8 total 4mm by 8mm roller bearings in 4 tubes installed on the 2 posts). Then while running, the operator could push to and fro derailing/rerailing the belt like a bicycle?
That would be very cool, like a simple gearbox you mean? Probably above my skill set though.

Drilled the base so I could use some brass bolts to mount it -

Turned up the four brass bolts -

The cone pulley looks somewhat easy to make, surprisingly it was one of the hardest things I've made to date.
I'm happy it worked out ok though making an exact duplicate is going to test my limited skills that's for sure.

 The steps are 50mm, 40mm, 30mm, 20mm, 10mm.

I built this Empire B34 Transmission Line Shaft 'Wannabee' some time ago, thought I'd slowly copy the build over to the new forum for posterity.

Here's an original Empire B34
